DESKTOP Search Experience
MOBILE Search Experience
The platform team at Ralph Lauren was tasked with refreshing our Search UI to accommodate new functionality from a partnership with Bloomreach. Working with Peter Verkuilen and Katy Wyman, with creative direction by Eden Smith and Rachel Felsinger, the team and I developed a new system of Search Flyouts and Search Grids. My main responsibility was to design the Search platform for our desktop and mobile flagship site.
The new designs offer users an updated interface with new search inspirations, such as trending search terms, featured categories, suggested terms, and suggested products. These new inspiration touch points are powered by Bloomreach’s API, which will learn and adjust search suggestions as more users engage with search on our site. For example, if a term produces 0 results, it will not suggest that term in the future, and the suggested terms will be updated based on what our users are searching for. Leveraging this tech, we allow our search to naturally pivot with seasonal trends, while also highlighting products and categories that correspond with the business’ priorities.
These concepts were not used on the live site, but worth sharing some thought-provoking exploration. To this day, we are pushing our search UI concepts to solve for embracing an AI driven search landscape.
